What?!?! Was it my use of "beotch"?

Wow ... just wow!

It's great when someone is able to customize your software to adapt it to their liking. It's also a first as until now, we've only had the JSP dispatcher and Velocity dispatcher. But, Chris wanted to use FreeMarker and so wrote himself a FreeMarker dispatcher. I hope that it was as easy as I made it out to sound on the homepage:

"Have another display technology you'd like to use? Simply extend the GenericDispatcher interface and configure the mapping file so that blojsom knows how to map the template extension to the proper dispatcher. That's it!"

Note to self: I need to allow for sizing on the Emoticons plugin because my grin was much bigger than above when I got Chris' message this afternoon.

But, I got to thinking that the filesystem really is limited in how expressive we can be with blojsom and its components. So, for blojsom 1.8 I'm going to rearchitect the system to go against a database. I'm certainly open to ideas on the persistence engine since I had looked at Hibernate awhile back, then went to Castor JDO, and then this Prevalayer came out. So much to do, so little time.

- Code completion. Smart type completion lists all derived classes after 'new' (for abstract classes and interfaces only)

- GLUE 4.0 integration has been removed
- OS X-related bugfixes

I also got an interesting post from Chris over at sixlegs.com that he had created a FreeMarker dispatcher and modified some of the default templates to conform to their syntax. Now that's pretty slick! It looks like we will have to start a third party add-ons page.

And another blojsom blog went online which makes us smile .

I won't go over all the details in the changelog, but suffice it to say that we're trying to stay current and innovative. Added support for trackbacks and the emoticons plugin adds a little "spice" to your blog entries The BlojsomPlugin interface has been improved to allow for more customization.

blojsom 1.7 (Codename: Absolut) is already underway. On our list: calendar component, email to author plugin (to be used for comments/trackbacks), and other enhancements.
