LOLCODE

LOLCODE.

Programming the LOL way. All LOLCats, LOL, ALL CAPS.

HAI! This site provides community documentation of the emergent LOLCODE language. It is our hope that the examples can grow in a way that is both internally consistent and suggest a real, feasible computing language.

There are a bunch of contributions already helping to shape the language. I mean, reading from a file, who could NOT love this language?

HAI
CAN HAS STDIO?
PLZ OPEN FILE "LOLCATS.TXT"?
	AWSUM THX
		VISIBLE FILE
	O NOES
		INVISIBLE "ERROR!"
KTHXBYE

There's already a Python interpreter for the language.

MarkdownJ

MarkdownJ

MarkdownJ is the pure Java port of Markdown (a text-to-html conversion tool written by John Gruber.)

There's already a patch to convert our markdown plugin to use MarkdownJ instead of calling out to the Perl script.

The Incredible Hulk

Here's a nice summer drink I concocted.

Ingredients:

  • Absolut Citron
  • Lemonade
  • Splash of Triple Sec
  • Splash of Cointreau
  • Dash of Sweetened Lime Juice

Shake well with a lot of ice so it's real cold. After pouring, drop in a single drop of green food coloring and "Watch drink get mad!!!"

The key is having the drink real cold so that the food coloring creates these green "veins" in the drink that slowly dissipate and take over the entire mixture.

Violence of the Lambs

I present to you, Black Sheep.

An experiment in genetic engineering turns harmless sheep into blood-thirsty killers that terrorize a sprawling New Zealand farm.

You can watch the trailer. Or not. I'm pretty sure I know what went on in the scene where Henry walks in on Angus (wearing no pants, exhaling smoke from a cigarette, with a sheep in the corner) and asks, "What are you doing in here?" Guaranteed most of the theater patrons watching this film will be asking themselves the same question!

Preemptive Authentication

From a delicious-java bug 1718567:

Every api call actually does two requests (via httpclient due to http-auth). You can cut this down by prememptively authenticating.

client.getParams().setAuthenticationPreemptive(true);

Good to know!

Zombies On A Plane

I present to you, Plane Dead.

On a flight from Los Angeles to Paris a mad scientist (Midkiff), on the run by the CIA, is transporting a coffin containing the body of a colleague infected with a genetically modified virus. While the 747 crosses a violent thunderstorm, the instability of the aircraft allows the corpse to get out of its container. The flesh-eating zombie quickly starts to spread the virus, infecting many of the passengers which now will have to fight for their lives stranded in the air with no way out. (via IMDB)

Now, I love the zombie genre. They're my most favorite movies ... EVAR! Of course I'm going to see Plane Dead when it makes it into the theaters, but, unfortunately I have to call bullshit on the entire movie.

If you watch the trailer, you'll see that the infected scientist is in an ice box and is guarded, presumably by the scientist on the run. The scientist also looks to have a pretty sizable firearm in his possession. Now, in the trailer, at one point it looks like the scientist guarding the zombified scientist gets knocked out by some cargo when the plane hits some turbulent storms. But, frame-by-framing it, we see he doesn't get knocked out. And in the next scene, he's at the ready with the gun, watching the zombie scientist make its way from the ice box, only to attack him moments later.

This is all classic horror movie stupidity. But, are you telling me that this zombie unfroze that quickly to the point where it could attack and infect the scientist with the BFG? Puh-lease.
