blojsom 3 source and other files
- The blojsom 2 -> blojsom 3 upgrade utility is available for download from this location.

blojsom 3 javadocs

I’ve put a page up on the wiki detailing instructions on upgrading from blojsom 2 to blojsom 3.

If you are upgrading, please:

a) backup your blojsom 2 installation and blog data before proceeding and
b) read through the instructions carefully.

If there are any points in the upgrade process which need clarification, let me know and I’ll update the wiki page. I’ve tried to make it as painless as possible.

Bugs, improvements, etc. may be made in JIRA.

Baby Rock

Baby Rock

Baby Rock Records transforms timeless rock songs into beautiful instrumental lullabies, sending your little one to a slumberland of sweet dreams.

There's an impressive list of albums already baby-ized, and by impressive, I mean that I'm trying to figure out how to purchase some of these CDs and hide the credit card transactions /images/emoticons/mozilla_wink.gif Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Tool ... wow ... just wow!

Payback

My sister asked me to give a toast at her wedding. Here's part of it (names blocked to protect the guilty):

Before I start my toast to sister and husband, I did want to thank them both. As some of you may know, today is my 30th birthday. Earlier, sister and husband pulled me aside and told me they were allowing me to choose 30 of their wedding cards as my birthday present. Really, I couldn’t be more touched, so please … a round of applause for sister and husband!

This got a lot of laughs.

Last weekend at dinner, my sister and her husband gave me a box. After opening the box, which was full of wedding cards, they said, "Go ahead and choose 30 cards!"

The cards were empty of course.

Zing!

Time-based Geo-blogging

Adam Burt continues to improve on Geo-Blogging by adding time stamp data to his KML template in blojsom. He's got a Time-based Geo-blogging screencast you can watch to see how you navigate one's blog through time within Google Earth.

Very cool!

Flocking XML-RPC (Again)

My previous experience with Flock and their blog editor amounted to Flocking XML-RPC.

I got an e-mail from a user and tracked down the following Flock bug.

Blojsom is not supported, marking duplicate

Not supported? OK ... fine ... I don't care that you don't support the software explicitly. But, blojsom does support the Blogger API, MetaWeblog API, and parts of the MovableType API. Atom API support also existed in blojsom 2.x, but I'm waiting for the final Atom Publishing Protocol to be finished before adding the support for blojsom 3.x.

So, looking at the other bug report with blojsom, it would seem there's at least a few others experiencing the same problem with not being able to a) have Flock automatically configure their blog settings and b) not ever seeing requests to the blog if you setup the blog manually.

Where's the problem? "This bug seems to wander in and out of the codebase - exists in 0.7.12.1.0 and 0.5.15, but was not evident in 0.5.7." Obviously something changed in the Flock blog editor. XML-RPC isn't supposed to be this hard. As I wrote in my comment on the bug:

I'd like to have Flock work with blojsom since a) it has worked in the past and b) there are many other XML-RPC editors that do work with blojsom since we do support the Blogger API, MetaWeblog API, parts of the MovableType API, and the Atom API.

Let me know how I can help Flockers.

Large Item Pickup

It's large item pickup 'round these parts. I don't think this happens very often. Basically you get to throw beds, cabinets, dressers, lamps, and other large or bulky items out on the lawn and the trash collector takes them away. There's been a lot more traffic in the neighborhood from people trolling for items that ... shall we say ... well, what's the saying, "One man's trash is another man's treasure." It's a freecycling smorgasbord.
