Welcome Simon to the Delicious-Java Project

Today I added Simon to the Delicious-Java project on SourceForge. Simon had contributed a JSP tag to show the latest posts from del.icio.us. I'm sure there will be other contributions from Simon. Either way, I'm glad to have a fresh set of eyes looking at the project.

Welcome aboard!

One of the best not-so-veiled references to the They Might Be Giants song, 32 Footsteps, seen in recent times. Either way, happy birthday /images/emoticons/mozilla_laughing.gif

Book 6

Save for the first 3 chapters which I had completed earlier last week, yesterday, I finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It was a thoroughly enjoyable read and the perfect way to spend a gourgeous Sunday.

Atom 1.0

I guess now that the Atom 1.0 format is basically finished, here is an Atom 1.0 template for blojsom. I'll give the latest draft document a more thorough once-over later on today to see what other elements make sense to include in the feed.

My Atom feed is validated.

Ben & Jerry's Raise-A-Flavor Update

Well, it's been awhile since I've blogged about the Ben & Jerry's Raise-A-Flavor campaign. They're counting down the Top 10 finalists each week. It also looks like they're mixing it up as they've revealed #'s 10, 9, 8, and this week, 6. We'll see if the greatest flavor ever created by Ben & Jerry's, aka From Russia With Buzz, makes it to #1. <fingers-crossed/> If it even makes it onto the list, I'll be happy.

Rumor is that one of the owners of the Ben & Jerry's company after Ben & Jerry sold the company lives in my development. I've seen their car which has a Ben & Jerry's front license plate. So, chances are that rumor is actually true.

If by some chance From Russia With Buzz doesn't make #1, maybe a friendly chat with these neighbors on an evening walk can get this flavor raised from the grave! The worst they can say is no and maybe I get a free coupon for a scoop of ice cream at the local Ben & Jerry's shop /images/emoticons/mozilla_wink.gif

Lindsay D. White

Lindsay D. White. Thoughts and updates on Lindsay's lymphoma.

The other night I was putting Eloise to bed and she asked me, "Mommy, when will your lymphoma go away?" At first I wasn't quite sure what to say but I finally said, "Mommy has started the treatment to make it go away. Hopefully, it will go away and stay away." This is what I chant to myself every morning as I am in radiation. "Cancer, go away and stay away." I say it as many times as I can, and when the treatment is over, I leave the hospital and go about the day.

I think I've found the charity, Lymphoma.org, where I'm going to donate my $500 from the TextAmerica developer contest.

Vegetable Garden

It's raining. This is a good thing. The vegetable garden needs the water. In no particular order, the following are now growing in the vegetable garden and need water.

  • Broccoli
  • Lettuce
  • Carrots
  • Peppers (multiple varieties incl. Habanero)
  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Celery
  • Squash
  • Pumpkins
  • Rhubarb
  • Cucumbers
  • Peas
  • Melon
  • Tomatoes
  • Corn
  • Herbs (chives, oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary, etc.)

I guess that's about it. Hopefully at the end of the summer most of this will be harvestable and edible.

Almost Famous

Cameron Crowe, who wrote Fast Times at Ridgemont High and directed films like Say Anything, Singles, Jerry Maguire, Vanilla Sky and the upcoming Elizabethtown has a few blogs powered by blojsom. Check out his news stand and journal. The news stand has a lot more postings.

I've already been in contact with the folks managing his site about an issue with the response pages. There are a few other minor issues like better permalinks, but that's easy to take care of.

It really is a thrill when you see your software used by someone whose movies are seen and enjoyed by people around the world (including myself). When I sent Mark Lussier an e-mail about these blogs, he responds with this gem, "Want to hear the most amazing part and this isnt a lie. I was at home working, watching Fast Times at Ridgemont High E True Hollywood Story when I saw the email." Even if you could, why would you make that up?! Anyhoo...

You had me at blojsom!

Wake

And now for the downer post of the day ...

Unfortunately tomorrow I have to attend a wake in the evening for a friend who passed away this weekend. Not the best way to reconnect with her family, people I knew from high school, and other friends. It'll be sad for sure, but at least it's not too far away to say goodbye in person. Maybe it's the optimist in me, but I believe my healing will start the moment I walk out the funeral home door. Not that you could ever put a timeline on being over someone's passing, but the two and a half hour drive down and back is ample time to think back on all the good ways that this person affected my life.

You can easily drop $130 on a pair of jeans over at Ben Sherman so promotions like free shipping and a CD on orders over $150 help out. Either way, more new clothes ... yay!

The New Goth Look

The new "Goth" look has officially been changed from pale and scrawny to tan and muscular. Don't believe me? Here's your proof!

Apparently you're still required to wear black ... but that may change too.

Katamari Damacy 2 Release Date

According to the GameSpot page for Katamari Damacy 2, it's release date is set for October 4th, 2005. October 5th, 2005 will probably not be a productive day at the office. A modest increase in price to $30 from the $20 you had to drop for the first Katamari Damacy. October seems soooooooooo far away at this point!
