Sandler CVS update OR Remembering Ferris Bueller's Day Off

So, it seems Mark is busy plugging away today at Sandler. Yeah, it's that much better. The recent change to CVS includes the following:
  • Serialization code moved out of the elements and into its own package. Mark has included a DefaultSerializer which outputs to a Writer and a StringSerializer which outputs to a String. This should make it even easier to do things like pretty print the XML and what not.
Yeah, Sandler rocks!

Oh right, the Ferris Bueller aspect to this post, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." The same could be said for open source development. We're living it. So, maybe we're not moving that fast but more say at a medium pace.

Some of you got that, right? /images/emoticons/mozilla_wink.gif

Gender confusion or Joi Ito is *not* a woman

Students need to dig a bit further or read a bit more. Digital Journalism readings for 2/17. I saw this in the comments. My emphasis below:
4- Ito’s blog is hard to follow. She goes from entries that are given context, such as the entry on San Francisco gay marriages, straight to an entry that says "Six Apart makes Fast Company 50. Yay and congrats! My company Neoteny is an investor in Six Apart". Maybe it is just my lack of computer knowledge again, but what in the hell does that mean? I’ve never heard of "Six Apart," "Fast Company 50," or "Neoteny." Additionally her posting doesn’t make me interested enough to follow any of her links to find out what these things are. It seems way too self-indulgent, as if she is congratulating herself on making such a wise choice. I guess I dislike things that make me feel like I’m out of the loop…an outsider. Ito seems to do this often.

Yeah, I don't know why I picked up on it either. I'm detail oriented I guess.

One year ago today ... blojsom 1.2

One year ago today, blojsom 1.2 was released. Major feature was the default category mapping. The default category mapping rocks. And that's another flavor-based option as well. This configuration option allows you to map none, a subset, or all categories from your blog to the default or "/" category. In other words, I can treat "/" as a category itself or have it act like an internal category aggregator for my blog.
