As Russell had done, adding RSS search is quite strightforward in blojsom. Here's how a line in your plugin.properties might look:

rss.blojsom-plugin-chain=referer-log, simple-search, limiter, weblogs-ping

It works quite well for a query like:

http://www.blojsom.com/blog/java/?flavor=rss&query=Velocity

And just think, if you're using blucene (the Lucene-based search plugin for blojsom), your RSS search is ultimately more powerful.
